Job description

IPS is hiring! We are looking for a talented Senior Construction Manager to join our EMEA Project Delivery and Construction team, located in Birmingham UK.

The Senior Construction Manager leads construction site activities, manages all field operations, and takes primary responsibility for site safety.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assumes primary responsibility for all activities on assigned construction sites.
  2. Leads field personnel to meet project goals. Assumes primary responsibility for site safety and ensures achievement of safety objectives on assigned projects.
  3. Ensures achievement of corporate goals for assigned projects.
  4. Ensures projects meet applicable quality requirements.
  5. Manages client interactions at site on assigned projects and promotes positive relationships.
  6. Develops working knowledge of prime contract requirements and applies this knowledge to project activities.
  7. Supports the Project Manager in developing and maintaining preconstruction, construction, and closeout plans.
  8. Supports the Project Manager in developing and maintaining project schedules, including activities, durations, and sequencing; communicates this to the project team.
  9. Develops understanding of the project budget and identifies exceptions throughout execution.
  10. Supports monitoring and reporting of project costs.
  11. Assists in developing change control and financial documentation, protecting corporate positions.
  12. Oversees subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  13. Participates in constructability reviews of design documents.
  14. Supports procurement and coordination of project resources; writes scopes of work and evaluates bids.
  15. Assists in pre-bid activities and in selecting subcontractors and vendors.
  16. Evaluates vendor and subcontractor invoices, negotiates payments, and manages change requests.
  17. Facilitates communication among project participants and manages the RFI process.
  18. Performs site inspections, reports on conditions, weather, safety issues, and completes safety documentation.
  19. Conducts coordination meetings with subcontractors.
  20. Provides feedback on construction documents and performance of equipment, materials, and systems.
  21. Ensures submittals are properly distributed, reviewed, and stored.
  22. Supports legal and regulatory compliance of project activities.
  23. Oversees startup and commissioning activities if included in scope.
  24. Assists in preparing proposals, presentations, and marketing documents.
  25. Maintains professional competency.
  26. Performs any assigned special projects.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent technical degree.
  • Extensive experience in Construction Management.
