Job description

WHY WORK AT JOE & THE JUICE

JOE & THE JUICE is a people-centric food and beverage company built around culture, not just juice, sandwiches, coffee, and much more. When joining us, you step into a high-energy community where the music is loud, the bar is your stage, and your personality matters as much as your skills.

We believe in four simple virtues that shape everything we do:

  • Positive Attitude
  • Inclusion
  • Social Ties
  • Growth

For us, this means that when you choose a cup-half-full mindset, welcome people from every background, build real friendships across the bar by creating great guest experiences, and use every shift as a chance to learn something new — you become more than just a Juicer; like us, you continue to search and find purpose and meaning in what you do.

From your first day, you’ll be part of an international network of Juicers who support each other, celebrate wins together, and push each other to grow. You will learn by doing, move through a clear Moneyball career path, and be part of a company where most leaders have earned their stripes behind the bar (fun fact: over 75% of our employees started as Juicers!).

If you love fast-paced service, music, people, and the idea of turning a job into a lifestyle, JOE can become a place to build skills, friendships, and a career that can take you across cities, countries, and roles.

Job Summary

Position title: Senior Construction Lead. The Senior Construction Lead owns delivery of Joe & the Juice's new store and renovation programme across the UK and Ireland, running every project from design through construction, handover, and aftercare. You set the standard on programme, cost, and quality, and you're the go‑to expert on bar setup optimisation and layout efficiency. You lead a team of Construction Project Managers, build the local supplier and contractor network from the ground up, and work hand‑in‑hand with the Director of Construction & Facilities, Real Estate, and the global growth team to get every store built to a world‑class standard - fast, safe, and consistent.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities
  • Own construction subject‑matter expertise for the UK & ROI, especially bar setup optimisation and layout efficiency, partnering with local management and the global growth team.
  • Set the local construction strategy: build a strong contractor and supplier network, negotiate commercial terms, and hold performance to account.
  • Lead and develop a team of Construction Project Managers - setting scope and process, managing performance, and growing capability as the team scales.
  • Partner with Real Estate to own the full lifecycle of every new store project across the UK and Ireland.
Project & Technical Delivery
  • Run every stage of new store construction and fit‑out - design, construction, and commissioning - through to handover.
  • Ensure every project meets landlord, retailer, and UK & ROI regulatory requirements, including planning and building control.
  • Read CAD drawings and technical documents fluently, and translate requirements clearly for contractors and consultants.
  • Drive site inspections, chair site meetings, catch defects early, and close out snagging to sign‑off with Real Estate/Operations.
Commercial & Cost Management
  • Know the market cost benchmarks cold – use them to protect commercial value and find efficiencies.
  • Build cost estimates and construction schedules, secure financial sign‑off, and own variance reporting.
  • Lead tender processes, evaluate bids with local architects and contractors, and keep pricing globally competitive.
  • Track cost savings and efficiencies, drive CAPEX optimisation, and sign off final accounts with the Growth Team.
Stakeholder & Brand Management
  • Work closely with Finance, Design, Architects, Contractors, and IT to keep every project aligned and transparent.
  • Turn brand, design, and operational requirements into clear project deliverables that protect brand equity.
  • Build strong relationships across every internal and external stakeholder in the UK & ROI.
  • Get ahead of deviations to opening dates or budgets – flag them early, with a solution already on the table.
Governance, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Hold every project to company standards and policy, driving health & safety and CDM compliance across all sites.
  • Own the risk register, change request log, and budget tracker.
  • Run post‑project audits and post‑installation reviews to capture lessons learned and sharpen the next project.
  • Give senior leadership clear, timely weekly updates – status, risk, and what's changing.
New Store Openings & Facilities Support
  • Steer detailed design phases to keep them aligned with brand and operational needs.
  • Work with supply chain and contractors to hit time and budget, every time.
  • Manage statutory approvals and landlord consents, keeping the UK & ROI fully compliant.
  • Support refurbishments and remodels with the Facilities team, keeping disruption to trading to a minimum.
  • Deliver a clean, complete handover of every store to the UK & ROI Operations team.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years leading construction or project delivery, ideally within multi‑site retail or hospitality.
  • A track record of running multi‑site rollouts, fit‑outs, and external vendors across the UK, ideally with ROI exposure.
  • Deep technical knowledge of construction, fit‑out, and UK/ROI building regulations, including CDM.
  • Sharp commercial acumen, with real procurement strategy and cost control experience.
  • Comfortable in project management platforms – you use the tech, not just tolerate it.
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Strategic thinker who executes, not just plans.
  • Leads, mentors, and communicates with clarity.
  • Commercially sharp, with proven cost management and value engineering.
  • Organised and detail‑driven, comfortable juggling multiple live projects.
  • A proactive problem‑solver who protects brand standards without being asked.
  • Genuinely passionate about brand experience and operational excellence.
WORK CONDITIONS
  • Field‑based, predominantly London, with a minimum of 2–3 days in the office.
  • Regular travel across the UK and Ireland, including site visits and store openings.
  • Occasional out‑of‑hours work to support critical milestones or store handovers.
