Job summary

Honda Motor Europe Ltd is seeking a delivery‑focussed research lead for software‑defined connectivity within the Decentralised Technology Lab (DTL) at Honda R&D Europe (UK).

You will drive PoC work across WiFi7, 6G, APIs and cloud integration, shaping production architectures and transferring knowledge to product teams in the UK and Japan.

This role involves cloud platform operations (AWS), collaboration with cross‑functional partners, and international travel to conferences and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Networking, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• Proven experience leading large projects and collaborating with research partners.
• Experience with connectivity technology or network platforms across public/private environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex systems.
• Self-directed, proactive, and collaborative.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms, API integration, and platform operations, ideally AWS.
• Hold a valid UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery-focused research in software-defined connectivity from lab validation to real-world use.
• Conduct sensing and PoC development for Wi-Fi7, 6G, APIs, and cloud integration.
• Translate research outcomes into production-ready architecture documents and PoCs.
• Drive technology maturation and transfer to global product and engineering teams.
• Own cloud-based proof-of-concept sandbox for testing digital services.
• Monitor connectivity tech, standards, and market developments to shape use cases.
• Act as technical authority guiding decisions and project direction.
• Collaborate with DTL and Honda teams to integrate connectivity tech into initiatives.
• Coordinate with internal/external partners; support events and standards activities.
• Travel internationally to conferences, suppliers, and workshops.
