Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned legal professional to join a leading global law firm as a Senior Conflicts Lawyer, based in the London office. This pivotal role sits within the firm’s core risk function, supporting partners across jurisdictions on complex conflict issues and new business intake for high-profile matters spanning multiple practice areas and sectors.

Why Apply?

  • Prestigious global platform – Join one of the world’s most respected international law firms with an exceptional reputation and global reach.
  • High-impact work – Engage with cross-border, multi-billion-pound transactions and play a key role in risk mitigation and strategic legal operations.
  • Direct partner engagement – Collaborate with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor on conflict issues and compliance.
  • Excellent package – Receive a competitive six-figure salary, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to work at the highest level of legal risk management.

Working closely with the firm’s global heads of conflicts and ethics, you’ll be the go-to person for partners and associates on all matters relating to conflicts of interest, client onboarding, and legal ethics. You’ll lead conflict checks for new clients and matters, guide on compliance with applicable rules, and help implement risk strategies across the firm’s offices worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary adviser on partner conflict queries across the global firm
  • Oversee and conduct conflicts research for new clients and matters
  • Identify and resolve complex conflict issues involving intricate corporate structures and transactions
  • Provide guidance on legal ethics, screening procedures, and conflict waivers
  • Draft and review engagement and waiver letters in accordance with firm policy
  • Implement and monitor ethics screens, ensuring compliance with firm-wide protocols
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of conflicts and intake policies
  • Advise attorneys and internal teams on multi-jurisdictional conflicts rules and obligations
  • Escalate any concerns regarding improper or unethical conduct when appropriate

Who This Would Suit

This role is ideal for a qualified lawyer with at least 5 years’ experience in conflicts. Prior experience within a Top 5, Magic Circle, US, or leading international law firm is essential. You’ll bring a deep understanding of complex corporate structures, private equity and financial institutions, and be confident analysing conflicts within litigation, restructurings, and transactional matters. Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work independently in a high-volume, high-stakes environment are key.

For someone seeking a senior, respected position in a truly global setting, this is a rare chance to shape the risk strategy of a leading global firm. Combining partner advisory, legal research, policy development and operational oversight, this dynamic role offers both breadth and depth for an experienced professional ready to make a strategic impact.
