Summary

Events Marketing is a global team supporting Morgan Stanley's worldwide businesses in planning and executing exceptional client events. The team, part of Integrated Firm Management, focuses on coordinating and delivering Morgan Stanley's services to clients globally.

The EMEA events team, based in London at Canary Wharf, manages events across London/UK, Europe, and the Middle East, supporting all firm divisions including Sales & Trading, Investment Banking, Investment Management, and Corporate.

Reporting to the Head of Conferences in EMEA, the Senior Planner is responsible for creating and delivering leading client conferences and experiences, collaborating with business sponsors. The candidate should have an interest in finance, strong business understanding, and relationship-building skills.

This role requires leadership, creativity, and technical skills to innovate and improve event deliverables, aiming to exceed expectations. It is a full-time, office-based position in Canary Wharf with regular travel within the EMEA region for site visits and event execution.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Planning and executing a variety of firm-wide conferences and events, including flagship and C-suite level gatherings.
  2. Leading or contributing to larger conferences, managing elements such as dinners, satellite events, client liaison, onsite staff, and vendors.
  3. Advising business hosts, developing solutions that meet needs while adhering to best practices, budgets, compliance, contracts, and risk management.
  4. Managing key supplier relationships, negotiating costs, and ensuring service delivery exceeds expectations.
  5. Owning the event budget, maintaining detailed financial tracking, and processing invoices accurately.
  6. Proposing and managing invitation processes, working with web teams to create event websites and mobile apps.
  7. Managing external speakers, including research, contracting, and logistics.
  8. Ensuring compliance with legal and anti-corruption policies, managing participant approvals and related documentation.
  9. Collaborating with sourcing and legal teams on contracts and tracking agreements.
  10. Working with design teams to produce timelines and marketing materials.
  11. Liaising with audio-visual teams for event production, webcast, and social media.
  12. Providing accurate reports, conducting post-event reviews, and planning for future events.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 6 years of event planning experience in investment banking, including managing key franchise events.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Leadership, innovation, decision-making skills, and vendor relationship management.
  • Knowledge of high-end venues and event technology.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work long hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as needed.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
