Job summary

Williams F1 Racing Team is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for the CBW (Chassis, Bodywork and Wings) group. You will own complete engineering projects from concept to completion, supporting R&D and production through build, test and fault-resolution phases to influence performance and reliability.

You will lead fault investigations, drive continuous improvement, mentor student engineers, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality, robust designs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, Marine or closely related engineering discipline.
• Proven technical expertise to lead and own significant engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Create conceptual and detailed designs for vehicle components and structures.
• Develop lightweight, structurally efficient, cost-effective solutions with attention to mass, stiffness and performance trade-offs.
• Produce supporting structural and functional calculations.
• Collaborate with aerodynamics, vehicle science, electronics, chassis, stress, transmission, R&D, production and external suppliers.
• Write clear technical procedures and system specifications.
• Lead fault investigations and implement robust fixes.
• Support drawing and assembly checks and provide Class 5 sign-off with stress engineering.
• Mentor student placements and help shape future engineering talent.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency.
• Act as a key contact for project allocation, supplier engagement, and user-acceptance activities.
