We are welcoming applications for the role of Senior Complex Systems Engineer in our Digital Systems Assurance group. This is a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects, from supporting aircraft re-entry into service after major avionics modifications to defining architecture requirements for Swarming Uncrewed Air Systems (UAS). The Role

As a Senior Complex Systems Engineer, you will:
  • Develop and review safety-critical systems architectures.
  • Support design decisions and reviews through a systems engineering approach.
  • Assist customers in developing their systems engineering strategies.
  • Provide assurance through the creation of safety and certification artefacts.
  • Assess compliance against regulations and standards.
  • Support the design or modification of safety-related systems.
You will also collaborate closely with clients, including Industry Primes, MOD, Design Organisations, OEMs, and Supply Chain, to provide consultancy services for new and in-service systems. Recent experience with industry primes or OEMs would be advantageous.

Your Responsibilities
  • Provide technical oversight and leadership on projects of various sizes.
  • Oversee and manage projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
  • Identify and capture new opportunities.
  • Ensure safety-critical systems design, assurance, and safety evidence meet client standards.
  • Deliver professional consultancy services to a wide customer base.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience in software or Complex Electronic Hardware (CEH) system development or assurance consultancy, particularly for safety-related systems to standards such as ARP4754A / IEC 61508.
  • Knowledge of standards like Def-Stan 00-055, Def-Stan 00-56, IEC 61508, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-326A.
  • Proficiency in modelling languages and architecture frameworks such as UML/SysML.
  • Experience with MBSE tools like Cameo and Sparx EA.
  • Application of engineering lifecycles for System and Safety in at least one domain.
  • Understanding of engineering within the MOD's acquisition framework, Knowledge in Defence (KiD).
  • Experience in developing solution strategies from client requirements and certification needs.
  • Project and technical management experience.
  • Proficiency in safety assessment and evaluation techniques.
Advantageous But Not Essential:
  • A degree in Safety, Engineering, Computer Science, Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • CEng/IEng accreditation or a goal to achieve it with mentored professional development.
