Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 physiotherapist to deliver specialist rehabilitation to adults via the Community Rehabilitation Service. You will manage a complex caseload in the community and contribute to service development.

Role includes supervising Band 5 staff, providing clinical supervision, and working within an MDT with NHS colleagues while supporting leadership pathways and ensuring consent per legal frameworks.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate experience in a relevant field.
• Clinical rehabilitation experience in a range of settings.
• Clinical rehabilitation experience across frailty, neurology and orthopaedics.
• Current NHS experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centred specialist rehabilitation to adults referred to the Community Rehabilitation Service.
• Hold responsibility for a caseload of complex patients in the community.
• Take part in developing the community rehabilitation service.
• Give specialist rehabilitation advice to patients, families, carers and MDT members.
• Support, guide and train Band 5 therapists, rehab assistants, apprentices, students and other professionals.
• Act as Clinical Supervisor and carry out managerial supervision and appraisal for Band 5 physiotherapists and rehab assistants.
• Act as team lead in the rehabilitation manager's absence, supporting staff and attending delegated meetings.
• Maintain communication and liaison with other Trust teams, Trusts and external agencies.
• Gain valid informed consent using verbal and non-verbal communication, including with patients who lack capacity, within a legal framework.
