Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Nursery Nurse with excellent clinical skills and confidence to work in the Lewisham Perinatal Mental Health Team based at The Old Townhall in Catford, SE6 4RU to provide support to families in the Royal Borough of Lewisham.

You will be familiar with Perinatal community standards, governance and performance structures and confident in partnership work with other agencies such as Children and Family Social Services, Midwifery and Obstetric teams, CMHTs, Health Visitors and the Voluntary sector.

You will display excellent knowledge and skilled practice in women with mental health disorders in the perinatal period. You need to have experience of working in a richly diverse inner city Borough and have the understanding of the opportunities challenges that this brings.

Working closely with your colleagues in PMHT's, you will receive support and be part of the on-going Perinatal workforce training within SLaM and London wide.

Main duties of the job

To work with a small caseload of clients with complex perinatal mental health needs to identify their performance goals, using specialist perinatal mental health assessments and intervention tools.To plan and deliver interventions in providing support to the mothers in caring for their babies in order to meet required standards to their developmental needs.To ensure accurate and concise record keeping relating to both parents and babies including documenting interactions with external agencies where appropriate and according to South London and Maudsley NHS Trust requirements.To contribute verbally and in writing at clinical meetings and local authority meetings relating to the babies.To communicate in a clear and professional manner with all parents, colleagues and extended agencies involved in safeguarding of the baby.To participate in the teaching programme, community meetings (staff and service users), clinical supervision and, staff support groups.To ensure Trust Infection Prevention and Control procedures are adhered to relating to both the babies and their equipment.

About us

The Lewisham Perinatal service provides a Monday to Friday, 9-5 service to service users residing within the Borough offering assessment, intervention and treatment to women who suffer from moderate to severe mental health disorders in the perinatal period.
