Job description
Job Purpose

Are you a registered nurse with experience or interest in Mental Health Nursing, particularly eating disorders in children & young people? The successful candidate will need a level head and be aware of the operational pressures of providing specialist mental health services. As a team we take pride in supporting staff and providing an induction to the area and to people's individual needs and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide NICE‑concordant treatment to young people with a diagnosis of an eating disorder, often with co‑morbidities and complex needs.
  • Contribute to ongoing team and service development to meet the complex needs of the children and their families.
  • Hold a delegated caseload, working alongside a multi‑disciplinary team to provide assessments, coordinate care plans, and deliver direct therapeutic interventions to children and young people.
  • Support families and carers through therapeutic interventions and information sharing.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the local paediatric inpatient unit and support admissions to this unit as required.
  • Maintain timely access to integrated, high‑quality, multi‑disciplinary mental health services, ensuring effective assessment, treatment and support for children & young people under 18 presenting with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge‑eating disorder and related diagnoses.
Expectations & Qualities
  • Proactive, compassionate, and motivated with transferable skills or experience working in the community with children & young people.
  • Interest in eating disorders within this population is essential.
Qualifications
  • Band 6 registered nurse.
  • Experience or qualification in mental health nursing, especially with eating disorders.
  • Evidence of effective communication and teamwork skills.
Location

Resource centre, Walker Close, Ipswich.

Working Hours

0.95 WTE permanent basis (35.62 hours per week).
