Job description

Senior Communications Officer needed in East London

The rate is £217.63 per day PAYE.

This is a temporary role.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Communication: Develop and deliver communication strategies, align activities with priorities and corporate objectives, deliver tangible outcomes, and anticipate emerging issues.
  2. Media & Public Relations: Build and manage relationships with local, regional, and national media; draft press releases, media statements, and briefing notes; handle crisis communications and reputational management.
  3. Sector Understanding: Understand political and legal sensitivities of working in local government; translate complex policies and council decisions into accessible messages.
  4. Content Creation: Write clear, concise, engaging, and accessible copy for various formats, adhering to council style and branding guidelines.
  5. Project Management: Manage multiple projects and deadlines, utilize planning tools, coordinate campaigns, and evaluate communication impact.
  6. Leadership & Mentoring: Manage and lead a team, support junior members, and provide strategic advice to senior officers and members.
