Job Description:

bumb’INGOMSO is a multi-faceted HIV Prevention project aiming to halve the incidence of HIV among adolescent girls and young women aged 10-24 in the Buffalo City Metro Municipality. This initiative is led by the National Department of Health, funded by the German KFW Development Bank, and co-funded by the DG Murray Trust. Its objectives include changing risky behaviors, promoting accessible health services, responding to gender-based violence, enabling economic opportunities, and fostering gender equality among young people.

Position: Senior Communications Manager

Reports to: Project Director

Direct Reports: Communications Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the communications strategy.
  • Lead the design and execution of communication plans.
  • Identify advocacy priorities and align them with strategic goals.
  • Build partnerships with government, civil society, and other stakeholders.
  • Create platforms for engagement and knowledge sharing.
  • Research, analyze, and synthesize program data into compelling communications products.
  • Manage media relations, including press releases, briefings, and acting as a spokesperson.
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment related to the project.

Qualifications:

  • At least five years of experience in similar communications roles.
  • Proven ability to craft strategies, content, and collateral across various formats.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders in non-profit or similar sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; additional South African languages are a plus.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress) and CRM tools is advantageous.
