Our client is the voice of the sector, collaborating with members, government, and regulators to address skills challenges within the utilities sector. They provide membership, assurance, and skills solutions to help employers attract, develop, and retain a skilled workforce.

As the Senior Communications and Policy Manager, you will operate at the Group level, reporting to the CEO and liaising with sales, membership, marketing teams, and other senior stakeholders to craft and execute a robust communications plan for the upcoming five-year strategy, launching in October. You should be comfortable engaging with high-level stakeholders, including government leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive external and internal communications plans.
• Create strategic communications content, including thought leadership pieces, white papers, speaking opportunities, and media engagement.
• Execute the communications strategy across multiple channels such as web, video, social media, PR, and events.
• Manage the production of policy documents, consultation responses, and policy inquiries.
• Prepare communication materials for political conferences and networking events.
• Shape and manage the organization’s positioning on skills and sector policy at various levels, ensuring message consistency.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Proven experience in a senior communications and policy role.
• Background in the public sector, utilities, independent training providers, or similar; experience with awarding organizations is a plus.
• Strong background in external communications, external affairs, and policy development.
• Excellent presentation and public speaking skills, including at government briefings.
• Influential relationship builder with strategic thinking capabilities.
• Willingness to work from Solihull office two days a week, with flexibility for travel.

This role is initially offered as a 6-month interim position, available as a fixed-term contract or day rate freelance role. There is potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate on a temp-to-perm basis.
