Reports To: Commissioning Manager

UK Location: Scotland - 100% travel to work site.

Position Summary:

The commissioning technician will be an integral part of the commissioning team, with their main responsibility being to work with and support the commissioning engineer and their manager in the commissioning of BESS sites. The successful candidate must be able and willing to travel and complete tasks at various project sites throughout the country and, on occasion, internationally. Experience with BESS or renewable power generation equipment in a commissioning or service environment is required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Commission BESS sites which use CSI Energy Storage’s Solbank Storage Power Block as part of a commissioning team.
  2. Perform tasks assigned by the commissioning manager and engineer, such as safety system checks, installation inspection, and functional tests.
  3. Perform daily routine tasks such as executing commissioning checklists, reviewing, and updating the issues list and helping to monitor the performance of commissioned assets.
  4. Support the commissioning of the overall control system by testing the network connectivity of all field devices and performing point-to-point tests.
  5. Provide on-site diagnostic, troubleshooting and hands-on support.
  6. Supervise subcontractors on-site where required.
  7. Assist in developing standard operating procedures from lessons learned on-site.
  8. Assist with the completion of testing documentation and preparation of test reports in a timely manner.
  9. Assist with the identification and compilation of spare parts inventories.
  10. Ensure proper LOTO and switching procedures are observed as required.
  11. Support client and operation and maintenance contractor training during and after commissioning.
  12. Adhere to all health and safety rules and policies.
  13. Attending and occasionally leading Plan of Day (POD) meetings.
  14. Review vendor commissioning documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  15. Maintain deficiencies punch list for each vendor and track completion of various.
  16. Work with the commissioning engineer to ensure post-handover site performance is optimised.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Qualified Electro-mechanical Technician.
  2. Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience in an installation or service environment preferably in renewable energy or power generation.
  3. Previous training in, or knowledge of inverters highly desired.
  4. SCADA experience will be beneficial.
  5. Comfortable working in a team or alone, with good communications skills.
  6. Good practical problem-solving skills.
