Job Summary:
Providing technical support, advising, and assisting site-based staff to enable the installation work to progress to full completion.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• To carry out all duties related to the commissioning and testing of all Cubic equipment within an agreed timescale and budget.
• Supervisor role is required within the role to ensure other engineers and sites are operating to an expect standard and quality.
• Regularly reporting test and commissioning task progress and status.
• Production and implementation of test and commissioning documentation deliverables to meet project Test Strategy requirements.
• Plan test and commissioning facility/equipment requirements and working areas
• Provide test and commissioning knowledge to projects during testing as required
• Support estimating for engineering projects and tenders with regard to test and commissioning engineering resources, plans, technology, risk and process.
• Witness testing where necessary, review and sign off test results to confirm successful testing completion.
• Checking that all plant and equipment required to be safety inspected, maintained, or tested is currently certified and that site records are kept
• Identifying and reporting project scope changes
• Maintain and develop own professional competence and encouraging and assisting persons working under their supervision similarly.
• Ensure that persons working under their supervision are briefed on their duties and competent to carry out tasks assigned to them and that they accept personal responsibility for work done under the authority delegated to them.
• Ensure the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and work instructions are applied throughout the test and commissioning engineering life cycle.
• Ensure commissioning tasks are delivered and undertaken in accordance with customer Health and Safety procedures and any other site rules & regulations are complied with.
• Maintain and develop good relationships with internal and external customers
• Commission and test as laid down in Cubic General Engineering Instructions (GEI) and to the specific related drawing.
• Carry out surveys prior, during and post installation.
• Provide technical support and assistance to site staff, sometimes remotely to ensure installation work is progressed to completion.
• Attend site, fault find and resolve any problems related to site installation or maintenance that cannot be resolved.
• To attend, liaise with 3rd Party Fire Contractor to enable and test station fire systems to certify that a station can be signed off and taken over by the Operator.
• In the presence of the Client, carry out Site Acceptance Testing to enable the handover of station into full operation.
• Required commissioning paperwork to be completed for handover packs of sites.
• Comply with Cubic’s values and adherence to all company policy and procedures. Comply with the code of conduct, quality, security and occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Essential:
• Previous experience working in a high technology engineering environment in a comparable role
• Good knowledge of how serial and Ethernet Comms and Internet Protocol are structured and function
• Good IT skills using all Microsoft software / products, SQL server (preferred), Basic file table handling techniques. Basic knowledge of DOS and Hyper Terminal
• Technical expertise in testing, design, development, and operations
• Previous experience of interpreting civil / site drawings
• Experience of working on site
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant "Health and Safety" procedures
• Driving Licence
Desirable:
• Experience in the following - : Gates, Passenger Validators, SC, SCU, EMO, FPE, TOM, SAF, MFM, AFM, QBM, FFM, DEU, OEU, HOM, Xpert, Fastis, Bulk enabler, Remote Monitoring, Help points, Firewalls, Switches, Overhead displays, Retail Terminals, Remote Servers (various), Back Offices, Proof of Concept (including manufacture), Bus Devices
• Previous experience or knowledge of CTSL products/industry or similar is desirable
Education and qualifications
Essential:
• GCSE’s or equivalent education or experience.
• HNC/ONC or equivalent in electrical, mechanical or Civil Engineering
Desirable:
• Fibre – City & Guilds
• First Aid training.
• Knowledge of BS7671 18th Edition wiring regulations
