Job summary

Barker Munro Recruitment is working with a leading insurer expanding its Manchester branch. We’re seeking a Senior Property & Casualty Underwriter to drive new business growth across Mid‑Market and Mid‑Corporate risks. You’ll build broker relationships, lead large‑case management, and underwriting profitable new business while supporting and influencing the wider underwriting team. Hybrid pattern: three days in Manchester office or visiting brokers, two days home working.

Barker Munro Recruitment is working with a leading insurer expanding its Manchester branch. We’re seeking a Senior Property & Casualty Underwriter to drive new business growth across Mid‑Market and Mid‑Corporate risks.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the branch’s success—building broker relationships, leading large‑case management, and underwriting profitable new business while supporting and influencing the wider underwriting team.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the business on larger, complex Mid‑Market and Mid‑Corporate risks.
• Negotiate coverage, wordings and pricing alongside Trading Underwriters.
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of quality new business opportunities.
• Lead the large‑case process and act as a referral point for the team.
• Develop strong broker relationships and deliver a clear distribution strategy.

What You’ll Bring

Working Pattern

Hybrid working with around three days per week in the Manchester office or visiting brokers, attending industry events. Two days home working.
