Job summary

Stride Treglown is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager (Associate Director) to strengthen commercial governance across live projects in a pan-practice context. Based in our studios—Bristol, Bath, Birmingham, London or Manchester—you will support Project Leaders from bid through to delivery, balancing risk, value, and client relationships.

You will review bids and fee proposals, advise on contracts (JCT/NEC), manage change, and develop clear commercial reporting for the Project Assurance

Qualifications

• Substantial commercial management experience within construction, engineering consultancy, development, or contractor-side delivery.
• Strong working knowledge of standard appointment documents and contract types (JCT/NEC).
• Experience supporting complex multidisciplinary projects from inception through to completion.

Responsibilities

• Review bids, fee proposals, scopes, exclusions, and consultant appointments to ensure risk allocations are robust.
• Advise on standard contracts, novation, procurement, liability positions, and warranties.
• Identify early commercial risks on live projects and support change control and fee recovery.
• Develop clear commercial reporting for leadership and Project Assurance Committee.
• Provide guidance and training to build commercial confidence across project teams.
