Job summary

Stride Treglown is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager (Associate Director level) to strengthen commercial governance and support Project Leaders across live projects. This pan-practice role focuses on contract review, risk visibility, and maintaining positive client relationships throughout the project life cycle.

Qualifications

• Substantial commercial management experience in construction, engineering consultancy, development, or contractor delivery.
• Strong working knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts, novation, indemnities, liability caps, and professional indemnity insurance.
• Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary projects from inception to completion.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel across UK studios as part of a pan-practice remit.

Responsibilities

• Review bids, fee proposals, scopes, exclusions, and consultant appointments to ensure risk allocations are robust.
• Advise on standard contracts (JCT, NEC), novation, collateral warranties, and professional indemnity considerations.
• Identify mitigations, updated terms, and additional fee positions on high‑risk projects; escalate for leadership input as needed.
• Partner with Project Leaders to identify early commercial risks on live projects and support change control.
• Support dispute avoidance, claims management, and early resolution of commercial issues.
• Lead on consistent sub-consultancy arrangements and commercial governance across the practice.
• Develop clear commercial reporting for leadership and the Project Assurance Committee.
• Provide coaching and training to build commercial confidence across project teams.
• Collaborate with Technical Operations to balance commercial risk with design quality and technical assurance.
