Job summary

Conrad Consulting Ltd in Scotland seeks an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function across a portfolio of civil engineering projects in Scotland.

You will oversee quantity surveyors, manage client relationships and negotiations, and drive profitability while mentoring the commercial team. This role offers growth within a successful contractor delivering major infrastructure work.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as Commercial Manager in civil engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Strong leadership and team management experience.
• Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills.
• Experience delivering large infrastructure or utilities projects.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of multiple civil engineering projects.
• Oversee Quantity Surveyors and support their professional development.
• Ensure robust commercial controls are implemented across all projects.
• Prepare and review monthly cost reports, forecasts and CVRs.
• Manage client relationships and commercial negotiations.
• Oversee subcontract procurement and contract administration.
• Negotiate and agree variations, compensation events and final accounts.
• Ensure compliance with NEC and other forms of contract.
• Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Work collaboratively with operational teams to maximise profitability.
• Support tender reviews and pre-construction activities.
• Provide commercial reporting to senior management.
