Job Description

Position: Head of Commercial

Location: Peterborough with hybrid working available

Salary: £105k-125k (DOE), car/allowance, bonus, and excellent benefits package

Our Client: An integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector with over 1,000 staff across eight regional centres, supporting long-term water sector frameworks, often in joint ventures and alliances.

The Role: Our client seeks to strengthen their Commercial team with a Head of Commercial for their @one Alliance framework, a collaborative organization of consultants and contractors delivering over half of Anglian Water's capital investment program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Delivery/Commercial Director of the framework.
  • Develop and execute strategic commercial plans to drive outperformance.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the commercial function within the Business Unit.
  • Support procurement to establish leading-edge models that deliver successful outcomes.
  • Assist estimating teams in maintaining accurate project and program estimates.
  • Ensure cost and performance indicators are monitored and accurate.
  • Be accountable for the Business Unit's commercial performance, including profit/loss.
  • Build strong relationships within the Business Unit to promote collaboration and value.
  • Develop a commercially aware culture within the organization.

Experience and Skills:

  • Significant experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial role.
  • Leadership experience in managing teams.
  • Proven track record delivering high-value projects (£600-700m) in construction or utilities.
  • Degree-level education.
  • Experience in change management and commercial contracting.
  • Strong commercial acumen, leadership, and risk management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to communicate strategy clearly and motivate teams.
  • Proven ability to develop oneself and others.
