About this opportunity

Our Energy team is delivering projects onnuclear new buildprogrammes across the UK that will be crucial to Britain’s energy independence and our NetZero 2050 targets.

The role ofSenior Commercial Manageris to own and manage commercial relationships for suppliers within their portfolio. You will be the primary point of contact for all supply chain/commercial matters relating to the portfolio of suppliers/contracts and work closely and pro-actively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. This includes working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a Programme.

Some key responsibilitieswill include:
  • Procuring, negotiating and executing the construction contracts for your portfolio, evidencing that value for money is secured at all times regardless of procurement route and contracts promote cost transparency and stakeholder requirements.
  • Managing all awarded contracts within a portfolio in accordance with the contract terms, governance requirements and Project objectives and to a successfully deliver portfolio outcomes.
  • Providing an overview of the individual contracts within a portfolio to ensure compatibilityand alignment with other projects and regular reporting of topics including: scope of work/services; schedule; pricesand rates; key personnel; and incentive arrangements.
  • Establishing, managing, tracking and taking the necessary corrective action to ensure the portfolio of procurements meets the overall Integrated Work Schedule milestonesand adequate time is allowed to successfully procure packages such that value for money is evidenced, stakeholder and project requirements are all met and contract signature is in line with the Integrated Work Schedule.

Who we're looking for
  • Relevant experience in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management, experience in the Nuclear / Civil engineering / Engineering (Including Service Contracting) sectors is desired but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are ideal. Methodical way of thinking and approach to organisational skills and the ability to adapt quickly. Excellent problem, negotiating, finance and numeracy skills are also beneficial.
  • Ideally HNC, HND or Degree qualified in a Cost Management, Construction Law, or similar / relevant discipline, or in some case applicants with an alternative background (e.g.: Engineering) may be considered.
  • Professional qualifications and/or membership of the RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS or other relevant Chartered Institute are desirable, and will be supported if not already attained.
