Job summary

Michael Page Legal is seeking a Senior Lawyer specialising in Commercial law based in Surrey. You will provide expert legal advice supporting the University's operations and strategic goals, handling a wide range of commercial matters and ensuring compliance.

The role requires UK qualified solicitor or barrister with at least 5 years PQE, experience across contract drafting, IT contracts, student and international agreements, and regulatory compliance with OfS, GDPR, and charity law.

Qualifications

UK qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years PQE.
Experience in commercial contracts, IT and student/exchange agreements.
Strong regulatory compliance knowledge (OfS, GDPR, charity law).
Ability to lead litigation strategy and engage with regulators and external counsel.
Experience in higher education or public sector is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, amend and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
Advise on regulatory compliance and governance matters.
Lead management of contentious matters and represent the University in courts, tribunals and with regulators/external counsel.
Collaborate with senior leadership and academic/professional services to achieve outcomes.
Ensure alignment with institutional policies and data protection requirements.
