A brilliant, globally-renowned scientific research organisation is in need of a Senior Commercial Finance Manager to help navigate the Commercial Finance team through a period of change and act as a strategic business partner to key stakeholders. In this role, you will provide financial insight, support business planning, and evaluate initiatives from across the organisation. It will involve a high degree of financial modelling, scenario planning, and horizon scanning. This position blends financial expertise with strategic thinking and strong stakeholder management for Exco and ultimately the Board. This interim role will report to the Head of FP&A for an initial six-month period, paying £700-800/day (inside IR35), based in the Central London office three days per week. It is an excellent opportunity to work for one of the world's most influential institutions with a team of talented and passionate individuals.

As the Senior Commercial Finance Manager, your role will include:

• Act as a trusted advisor to ExCo, providing insight, challenge, and exception-based reporting.
• Influence strategic decisions through financial challenge and alignment with commercial and charitable goals.
• Lead financial strategy through changing priorities and BAU, supporting ExCo and programme directors.
• Oversee Partnering for Equity and international finance strategy alongside major global programmes.
• Lead long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow development.
• Build robust business cases and conduct post-implementation reviews.
• Consolidate financials across segments and liaise with the investment team.
• Design and deliver reporting strategy, KPIs/OKRs, and variance analysis.
• Prepare leadership performance packs and support strategic stress testing.
• Maintain financial models for scenario planning and economic forecasting.
• Contribute to the annual report.

The ideal Senior Commercial Finance Manager will:

• Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CA/CPA/CIPFA or equivalent).
• Have experience leading commercial finance teams within fast-paced environments.
• Possess first-class reporting skills.
• Be a champion of equality and diversity.
• Have experience leading teams through periods of change.
