Job summary

EY UK is seeking a Legal Counsel – Commercial Lawyer (Assistant Director) on a permanent basis in Birmingham. This hybrid role sits within the UK Legal Team, advising on a broad range of commercial contracts and technology-related services for clients across sectors.

You will draft, negotiate and manage contracts including SaaS, outsourcing and government agreements, while collaborating with senior lawyers and business teams to protect EY’s interests and enable deal success.

Qualifications

• 4-8+ years of post-qualification experience or equivalent.
• In-house experience.
• Ability to provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced environment with credibility at all levels.
• Be a self-starter, good at juggling deadlines and building relationships based on trust.
• Ideally experience advising on GenAI in service provision.
• Ideally some data privacy experience.

Responsibilities

• Advise on, draft and negotiate contracts including Master Services Agreements and Global Framework Agreements with clients.
• Collaborate with other lawyers on large, complex commercial contracts (including AI-related work).
• Handle subcontracts, outsourcing, collaborations, and software/licensing agreements (traditional and SaaS).
• Provide legal guidance to firm service lines and internal support functions.
• Assist with tenders and RFP responses.
