DESCRIPTION

Our Client is a global leader in nuclear energy. A partner of choice to the international nuclear power sector, our Client provides design, manufacturing, build, and equipment supply services to critical projects worldwide.

THE ROLE

Our Client is recruiting for a Senior Commercial Manager based in their Avonmouth office. They will provide leadership, commercial oversight, and control to ensure the delivery of projects in line with client-side commercial arrangements, company strategy, and operational and financial targets.

The Senior Commercial Manager manages a commercial team and key contracts, liaising with internal and external stakeholders on major contracts. They also provide SME advice and support to ensure contract adherence and maximize business opportunities through appropriate contract mechanisms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Activities:

  • Ensure all commercial processes (including procurement) are drafted, implemented, and followed.
  • Contribute to developing processes to improve and maximize growth.
  • Draft and develop (in conjunction with Legal) robust commercial documents to protect interests and maximize opportunities.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with contract obligations.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties to ensure understanding of terms and financial aspects of contracts.
  • Coach and develop employees on best practices for managing complex contract issues.
  • Nurture relationships with clients to ensure long-term delivery and value.
  • Train and/or mentor the commercial team.
  • Participate in negotiating and finalizing contracts prior to placement.
  • Engage in the bid process to identify and highlight commercial risks.
  • Accept additional duties as situations arise.

  • Fully implemented and effective commercial processes.
  • Clear understanding of contract obligations among stakeholders and business leadership.
  • Business compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Commercial/contract awareness training across relevant teams.
  • Favourably negotiated contracts prior to placement.
  • Robust commercial rigor within the bid process and clarity of commercial risks.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

The Senior Commercial/Contract Manager should be a strategic thinker, driven, and thrive in a challenging environment. They should possess technical expertise and leadership qualities to succeed in complex commercial projects.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in contract or commercial management, especially handling large multi-million-pound contracts.
  • Expertise in G3 contract management is highly desirable.
  • Strong background in corporate finance, including financial reporting, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Extensive experience in complex negotiations and stakeholder management, capable of handling high-pressure situations tactfully.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract terms and construction industry regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply them.
  • Experience managing teams with strong leadership skills and a focus on high performance.
