Job description

Working as part of a small commercial team, this role focuses on the management and optimisation of midstream energy contracts across a portfolio of key assets. You’ll take responsibility for ensuring contractual obligations are met, supporting the development and negotiation of new agreements, and maintaining strong working relationships with external counterparties. The role also involves delivering accurate customer reporting, coordinating with internal teams to align commercial activities with operational requirements, and identifying opportunities to enhance value through improved contract performance and integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the commercial management of midstream infrastructure and associated agreements.
  • Taking ownership of commercial operations for key contracts, including third-party and transportation agreements.
  • Liaising with external counterparties to support contractual obligations and maintain effective relationships.
  • Ensuring contractual rights and obligations are enforced and performed across a range of complex agreements.
  • Contributing to the negotiation, development, and execution of new commercial agreements.
  • Administering and integrating new contracts into internal systems, ensuring protection and enhancement of value.
  • Coordinating with technical teams to align commercial operations with business needs.
  • Supporting nomination, allocation, and gas operations processes.
  • Assisting in resolving commercial disputes and managing contractual risks.
  • Acting as part of the on-call commercial operations team on a rotational basis.
  • Delivering timely, accurate customer reporting and ensure invoicing aligns with contract terms.
  • Identifying and supporting opportunities to enhance performance and commercial value across the business.

About You:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as finance, engineering, legal, or business.
  • Experience in the UKCS midstream or upstream energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts and operational delivery in oil and gas.
  • Highly numerate with sound business acumen and risk awareness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to interpret commercial terms and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Effective communicator across commercial, legal, technical, and operational teams.
  • Proactive, well-organised, and adaptable, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Familiar with UKCS industry standards and codes of practice.
  • Willing to participate in occasional on-call commercial support.
