Job summary

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust invites applications from an enthusiastic Consultant Colorectal Surgeon to join our team in West Essex. The role focuses on high-quality colorectal and general surgical care, teaching, and service development across multiple hospital sites.

The post includes 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, with support for research, education, and leadership within a consultant-led department.

Qualifications

Broad experience in General Surgery with a specialist interest in Colorectal Surgery.
Proficient in colonoscopy and laparoscopic resections.
Eligible for GMC registration and FRCS.
CCT in relevant specialty or within 6 months of achievement.

Responsibilities

Provide expert clinical care in General and Colorectal Surgery, including elective theatre lists, emergencies, outpatient clinics, and on-call services.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
Contribute to development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.
Supervise and support resident medical staff.
Engage in clinical audit, quality improvement, and research activities.
Participate in clinical governance and risk management.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments and external partners.
