Job Title: Senior Coastal Engineer

Salary: £55-65 per hour - dependent on experience

Location: (Epsom, Bristol, Manchester, Peterborough, Exeter, Glasgow, Swansea)

Type: 6-12 month contract, hybrid (minimum 2 days/week in-office, starting with 3 days to onboard with the team)

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Coastal Engineer to lead and deliver high-profile coastal engineering solutions as part of critical infrastructure programmes in the UK. This role involves hands-on technical design, project delivery, and the opportunity to work on iconic projects both nationally and internationally.

About the Client:

Our client is a renowned consultancy working across multiple sectors including Water, Defence, Energy, Cities & Development. They are known for innovative, industry-leading solutions that cover the full project lifecycle - from concept to construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and manage a team to deliver high-quality technical coastal design work.
  2. Develop briefs, scopes of work, and contribute to bid proposals.
  3. Manage project timelines and budgets effectively.
  4. Collaborate with international teams for integrated design delivery.
  5. Ensure compliance with quality assurance and design standards.
What Our Client is Looking For:
  • Chartered Civil Engineer (essential).
  • Strong background in multidisciplinary design delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of ocean waves, tidal theory, wave processes, and sediment transport.
  • Proven experience designing coastal structures such as sea walls, revetments, flood defences, and breakwaters, in line with BS6349, EurOtop, and other relevant standards.
  • Skilled in using and directing numerical modelling for wave, tidal, and hydrodynamic simulations.
