Job summary

JOTA is seeking a highly skilled Senior CNC Setter/Operator to work on 3–5 axis milling in a quality-driven environment. You will own the complete machining process from tool selection to first-off inspection, delivering right-first-time components.

You will collaborate with Production Engineering, Programming, Quality and Maintenance teams, mentor apprentices and drive continuous improvement while supporting TPM and 6S on the shopfloor.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior CNC Setter/Operator in milling
• Excellent knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling and work-holding
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Experience with CAM programs and proving out new CAM CNC programs
• Familiarity with modern IT systems to support production and inspection

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating 3, 4 & 5-axis CNC milling machines from drawings & job packs
• Selecting tooling, fixtures and work-holding for accuracy and efficiency
• Proving-out new CNC programs with Production Engineering and providing feedback for optimization
• Loading proven programs, setting tool offsets and validating machine setup for production
• Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspections to GD&T specifications
• Troubleshooting machining issues and adjusting to maximise productivity
• Producing or modifying work-holding as required
• Performing routine machine maintenance and supporting TPM and 6S activities
• Collaborating with Programming, Engineering, Quality and Maintenance teams
• Mentoring apprentices and less experienced colleagues

We're looking for a highly skilled CNC Setter/Operator with a proven track‑record of producing complex high-quality machined parts using 3, 4 & 5-axis CNC Milling machines. About the role

As an experienced Setter/Operator, you'll take ownership of the complete machining process, including:

• Setting and operating 3, 4 & 5-axis CNC milling machines from engineering drawings & job pack documentation
• Selecting tooling, fixtures and work-holding to achieve the highest levels of accuracy and efficiency
• Working closely with the Production Engineering team to prove-out new CNC programs, providing feedback for process optimisation to ensure quality and efficiency targets are consistently achieved
• Loading proven CNC programs, setting tool offsets and proving the machine setup ready for production, providing detailed feedback on potential process improvements where relevant
• Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspections to ensure components meet specification and GD&T requirements
• Troubleshooting machining issues and making the necessary adjustments to maintain quality and maximise productivity
• Producing or modifying work-holding where required
• Performing routine machine maintenance and supporting TPM and 6S activities
• Working closely with Programming, Engineering, Quality and Maintenance teams to continuously improve processes
• Supporting and mentoring apprentices and less experienced colleagues where appropriate

Your profile

You'll be someone who enjoys taking ownership of your work and has the confidence to set machines independently.
You'll have:

• Proven experience as a Senior CNC Setter/Operator with relevant CNC milling experience, including proving out of new CAM CNC programs.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling and work-holding
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Strong experience of working with modern IT systems to support production and inspection requirements on the shopfloor.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to work on challenging projects
• A commitment to producing right-first-time quality
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement, safety and housekeeping
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team
