Job summary

Sammons Recruitment Ltd in Hastings is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer / Operator to join an established workshop. You will set, operate and program CNC turning machines, carry out manual turning, read engineering drawings and use CAM software to create bespoke components.

The role requires proficiency with G-code/M-code and a hands-on approach to Lean manufacturing in a precision metalworking environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in CNC turning and programming.
• Strong manual turning experience is required.
• Experience with CAM software, ideally Delcam or Mastercam.
• Good knowledge of G-code, M-code, offsets and machine functions.
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Experience producing bespoke or low-volume components.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC turning machinery.
• Work with both horizontal and vertical CNC lathes.
• Run programmes directly and remotely.
• Programme bespoke components using CAM software.
• Carry out manual turning and traditional machining operations.
• Interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• Set workpieces, tooling, offsets and machine parameters.
• Use G-code and M-code effectively.
• Carry out quality checks to ensure components meet specification.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities.
