Job summary

Belman Technologies in Milton Keynes is seeking a Senior CNC Machinist to join our precision engineering team. You will set up and run 5-axis CNC machining centres, delivering high-precision components for Motorsport and automotive programs.

You will lead by example, optimise tooling and processes, and support continuous improvement while working to ISO9001 standards. The role offers a challenging, collaborative environment with ongoing training and career progression.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CNC Machinist in a precision engineering environment.
• Extensive 5-axis machining of prototype and low-volume complex components.
• Experience with 5-axis CNC centres from Matsuura or DMG Mori.
• Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls, probing cycles and G-code.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T, and perform precise inspections.

Responsibilities

• Set, operate, and optimise 5-axis CNC machining centres to high accuracy.
• Lead by example to maintain high workmanship and productivity.
• Prove out prototype and new production components, advising tooling and strategies.
• Ensure process compliance with production control plans and quality standards.
• Read drawings and specifications and conduct in-process inspections.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Quality, Production Control and Production Engineering to drive improvements.
• Maintain safe, clean, and ISO9001-compliant working environment.

What you will be doing:

We are seeking an experienced Senior CNC Machinists to join our precision engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled machinist with a strong Engineering background in low volume precision parts manufacture, to work with a prestigious list of customers operating the latest CNC machines from Matsuura and DMG.

Key Responsibilities

• Set, operate, and optimise the latest 5-axis CNC machining centres, Matsuura (Fanuc) and DMG Mori (Heidenhain) machines, ensuring maximum machine performance and productivity.
• Lead by example, driving high standards of workmanship, efficiency, and continuous development.
• Prove out prototype and new production components, providing detailed feedback to the Production Engineering Team on tooling selection, cutting strategies, speeds, and feeds to optimise manufacturing processes.
• Ensure production control plans, quality procedures, and engineering standards are adhered to throughout the manufacturing process.
• Read, interpret, and work from detailed engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
• Perform in-process inspections using a range of manual measuring equipment and gauges, ensuring components meet exacting quality standards and tight tolerances.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues, implementing corrective actions to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with Quality, Production Control & Production Engineering to resolve technical challenges, improve processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a safe, organised, and professional working environment in line with company health, safety, and quality standards. Maintaining our ISO9001 standards and processes.

What we are looking for

Requirements

• Proven experience as a CNC Machinist within a precision engineering environment, with strong expertise in 5-axis machining of prototype and low-volume, high-complexity components.
• Extensive experience operating, setting, and programming CNC machining centres, ideally Matsuura (Fanuc) and/or DMG Mori (Heidenhain) machines.
• Advanced knowledge of Fanuc controls, including probing cycles, kinematics, G-code programming, tooling optimisation, and machine setup techniques.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing processes, and precision inspection methods.
• Experience using a wide range of measuring equipment to verify components against tight tolerances and exacting quality standards.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a high-performing team.
• Exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
