Job summary

The Opportunity Hub UK in London is seeking a Senior CloudStack Engineer to own and optimize cloud and compute infrastructure across private cloud environments. You will deploy, troubleshoot and scale critical platforms, working with CloudStack/OpenStack and related technologies.

With 3–6 years in cloud infrastructure, you’ll lead on architecture decisions, automation and reliability, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with technology leadership.

Qualifications

• Around 3 to 6 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems, platform engineering or a related technical environment.
• Strong experience with Apache CloudStack, OpenStack or comparable private cloud technologies.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Good knowledge of KVM or similar hypervisor technologies.
• Strong understanding of compute, storage, virtualisation and cloud infrastructure.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs and wider networking principles.
• Experience supporting production or business-critical infrastructure.
• Ability to diagnose complex infrastructure problems and take ownership through to resolution.
• Experience with infrastructure automation, scripting or Infrastructure as Code would be advantageous.
• Understanding of infrastructure monitoring, resilience, reliability and performance.
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly.
• Experience supporting or mentoring less experienced engineers would be beneficial.
• An interest in AI infrastructure, data centres and high-performance computing.

Responsibilities

• Deploying, configuring and managing Apache CloudStack infrastructure
• Taking ownership of cloud infrastructure reliability, availability and performance
• Managing compute, virtual machines, storage and networking across the environment
• Managing and troubleshooting Linux and KVM virtualisation environments
• Diagnosing complex issues across CloudStack, networking, storage, compute and physical infrastructure
• Supporting the deployment and expansion of data centre and compute capacity
• Investigating infrastructure incidents, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions
• Supporting infrastructure upgrades, migrations and configuration changes
• Improving infrastructure monitoring, resilience and operational processes
• Developing or improving automation for repetitive infrastructure tasks
• Contributing to infrastructure architecture and scalability decisions
• Creating and maintaining clear technical documentation
• Supporting less experienced engineers and sharing technical knowledge
• Working closely with senior technology leadership on infrastructure priorities
