Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support government and defence customers across the UK. You will refactor, replatform, and rehost mission-critical systems into AWS and hybrid cloud environments, contributing to national security programmes.

The role involves designing cloud architectures, automating deployments, and ensuring secure scalable infrastructure with emphasis on DevSecOps practices.

Qualifications

• AWS certification at Associate level with hands-on cloud delivery experience.
• Strong Linux and Windows system administration in large-scale environments.
• Solid IPv4 networking knowledge including subnetting, routing (OSPF), VLANs, and VPNs.
• Automation experience using Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Puppet, or Python.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and implement AWS and hybrid cloud solutions aligned to customer requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define scalable, secure infrastructure architectures.
• Administer and optimise Linux and Windows-based systems in enterprise environments.
• Design and troubleshoot IP networking including AWS networking and hybrid connectivity.
• Automate deployment, configuration, and maintenance processes using IaC and configuration management tooling.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through DevSecOps practices.
