We are recruiting for a Senior Cloud Platform Manager to own and drive forward our cloud adoption, ensuring that we maximise the value from our Azure platform. You will ensure that the platform is resilient, scalable, and cost-optimised for services running within it. Reporting into the Head of IT, you will be responsible for developing a roadmap of cloud adoption and ensuring that the platform continually evolves to cater to future business needs. If you are a forward-looking technical leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment where technology is central to our organisational goals, then this may be the job for you!

Who Are We?

Not just another building society. Not just another job. We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK, and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.

Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do. Whatever your background and goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.

You will work as part of the IT department, reporting into the Head of IT, within the broader Technology, Transformation, and Resilience function of around 400 technology professionals.

What’s In It For You?
  • Work/life balance with hybrid and flexible working options
  • Vibrant, recently refurbished head office
  • Annual discretionary bonus scheme
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + increase with service to 30 days
  • Holiday trading scheme
  • Matching pension contributions (up to 10%)
  • Colleague mortgage scheme (conditions apply)
  • Salary sacrifice for hybrid & electric cars
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Private medical insurance
  • 3 paid volunteering days per year
  • Diverse colleague networks including Carers and Pride Alliance
  • Health and wellbeing benefits including cycle to work and gym discounts
What Will You Be Doing?

As part of our cloud strategy, we are migrating services to Azure, developing greenfield solutions, and managing a large change portfolio. You will provide leadership to multiple teams involved in evolving our Azure platform, including:

  • Owning and driving the cloud adoption and migration roadmap, defining target approaches for legacy applications, and executing proof of concept activities.
  • Ensuring the cloud platform's effective operation, security, compliance, and performance.
  • Collaborating with the Operational Resilience team on resilience and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Establishing and leading a Cloud Centre of Excellence to ensure governance and maximise cloud value.
  • Leading product teams to deliver against strategic goals and fostering continuous learning and skills development.
What Do We Need From You?

You should have experience managing large-scale Azure cloud platforms, leading hybrid environments, and defining platform roadmaps aligned with business needs. Other requirements include:

  • Proven leadership in technology teams, driving excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing budgets, implementing FinOps, and forecasting costs.
  • Comfort operating in fast-paced, conflicting priority environments, with stakeholder influence skills.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships to derive value.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems thinking, agile, lean, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience owning operational risk management.
  • Strategic thinking and cross-team collaboration to empower engineers and achieve technical excellence.
