Job summary

Ensono is seeking a senior Public Cloud Engineer to join a tight-knit Agile team in London. You will own and operationalize cloud services, defining standards and onboarding AWS/GCP services while advocating simple, scalable, and secure solutions.

Strong background in automation, IaC, and container ecosystems is essential. You will collaborate with Product Management to align cloud initiatives with roadmaps, and provide expert guidance to pre-sales and cloud operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in mission-critical environments.
• 5+ years architecting, engineering or supporting public cloud solutions on AWS or GCP.
• Knowledge of AWS/GCP best practices, security, and patterns.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Experience with config management (Ansible).
• Excellent Linux knowledge (RHCE or equivalent).
• Scripting in Python, Perl, or Bash.
• Git and CI/CD tooling experience.
• Container experience (ECS/EKS/Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools helpful.
• Ability to leverage AI tools (Copilot/Claude).
• Strong TCP/IP knowledge.
• Computing-related degree preferred; ITIL/Agile beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as the lead engineer on Product Engineering epics and stories.
• Develop and operationalize new repeatable Ensono public cloud services and solutions.
• Define and evolve public cloud standards for repeatability, security and scalability.
• Recommend technical stacks after research, bake-offs and PoCs.
• Onboard new AWS and GCP services aligned with the product roadmap.
• Drive automated infrastructure deployment using IaC and scripting.
• Advise pre-sales on technical standards and feasibility.
• Provide escalation support to cloud operations for major issues.
• Keep up to date with public cloud services and related tech.

About the role and what you will be doing:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small , friendly, Agile-based, team working on some of the hottest public cloud technologies.

The Public CloudProductEngineering teamworks closely with our Product Management team to bring to life standard services and solutionsthat can be repeatedly sold to multiple managed service customers.

Using your strong background in automation , engineering , and best practice you will also play a major role in defining and evolving our public cloud standards, implementing new tools, onboarding new AWS and GCP services, a nd act as an SME supporting other teams.

The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate a genuine desire and passion for public cloud ; automation ; keeping it simple , supportable, and scalable; with proven ability to deliver pragmatic workable solutions on time .

Responsibilities:

• Act as the lead engineer on Product Engineering epics and stories .
• Develop ( “operationalize”) new repeatable Ensono public cloud services and solutions .
• Define and evolve public cloud technical standards to ensure repeatability, supportability, scalability, and security.
• Make recommendations on technical stack including research, assessments, bake-offs, and proof of concept s.
• Assess and onboard new AWS and GCP services in line with the Product roadmap .
• Drive the deployment of automated infrastructure and systems using IAC , c onfig management and scripting.
• Provide subject matter expertise and advice to pre-sales architects on our technical standards .
• Act as a final line of escalation and assistance for the cloud operations team for major problems .
• Proactively keep up to date on public cloud services and related technology .

Desired Skills and Experience

• 8 + years’ experience in supporting highly customer-focused mission critical environments (e.g. , high profile web or enterprise infrastructure) essential.
• 5 + years’ experience of architecting, engineering, or supporting public cloud solutions on AWS or GCP.
• Sound knowledge of AWS or GCP best practice, security considerations, and architectural design patterns.
• Experience of implementing and supporting public-cloud based workloads and services .
• Hold multiple current AWS or Google Cloud Certification s (or be able to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge) .
• Exper ience of building solutions using Infrastructure as Code (e.g. , Terraform, Cloud formation)
• Experience of config management systems (e.g. , Ansible).
• Excellent Linux O/S knowledge and experience ( RHCE or equivalent level of knowledge ).
• Scripting ability in Python , Perl, or Bash .
• Experience of using Git for version control .
• Experience of the AWS or GCP CLI and scripting against it .
• Experience of working with , designing, deploying , or supporting containerized environments (ECS/EKS /Kubernetes /Docker ) is usefu l, but not essential.
• Expe rience of Jenkins or other CI/CD pipeline technology useful .
• Able to leverage AI tools to improve productivity and quality (e.g. Copilot/Claude/Kiro)
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP.
• A degree in a computing-related discipline preferred or equivalent ability and knowledge.
• Experience working in ITIL and Agile environment s beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to share knowledge via clear and concise documentation, and demos/presentations.
• Able to implement supportable solutions and make the complex simple.
• Able to work in an organized and efficient manner without close supervision
• Must be self-motivated, a self-starter and possess a good working attitude.
• Desire to continually grow, develop and improve.
