We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to drive the continuous enhancement of our cloud platforms. This role focuses on optimisation, automation, and strategic configuration of monitoring and control systems to ensure operational excellence. You will serve as a subject matter expert and provide technical leadership, offering best-practice guidance to our outsourced operations teams and helping shape the future of our cloud infrastructure.
What you'll be doing:
- Developing automation and tooling to streamline platform operations, enhance consistency, and reduce manual configuration.
- Leveraging Azure-native and third-party tools to enable comprehensive logging, monitoring, and reporting of platform and service health.
- Testing and implementing innovative approaches to platform management and automation, with a strong emphasis on Azure-native capabilities.
- Identifying and executing optimisation opportunities to improve utilisation, performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Applying policy-based configurations and guardrails to ensure consistent standards and strengthen security and compliance.
- Guiding outsourced teams by sharing expertise and ensuring adherence to internal standards and best practices.
- Ensuring effective cloud platform management to support the organisation’s strategic goals and uphold its consumer duty obligations.
Qualifications - Who we're looking for:
- Direct hands-on technical knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
- Direct hands-on technical knowledge of Windows and/or Linux servers.
- Experience with Automation and Config as Code – Azure Automation, Ansible, PowerShell DSC.
- Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability tools, particularly Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Dynatrace, or New Relic.
- Solid background in Windows and/or Linux server configuration and management.
- Knowledge of networking and web standards such as DNS, HTTP, proxies, load balancers, firewalls, and WAFs.
- Good understanding of security and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
