About The Role
Join the forefront of innovation as a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at Learning Pool. You won’t just be keeping pace with technology, you'll be setting the pace. Imagine being at the epicentre of innovation, deploying state‑of‑the‑art cloud‑based solutions on AWS that power our online learning platforms. You will leverage Infrastructure as Code and container orchestration platforms to build and manage this scalable, resilient infrastructure. In addition to optimizing and scaling our existing infrastructure, you’ll play a key role in designing and implementing cloud architectures that support cutting‑edge Generative AI applications. What you will be doing
Roles And Responsibilities Include
- Innovate and Build: Spearheaded the development and implementation of cutting‑edge cloud technologies by pioneering next‑generation cloud solutions that will revolutionize online learning.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the planning and execution of cloud infrastructure projects, ensuring they align with the company's long‑term objectives. Collaborate with the team to balance business requirements with technological innovation, cost, and scalability.
- Knowledge Sharing: Guide junior engineers by sharing your expertise and best practices and engaging in knowledge‑sharing sessions. Foster a culture of continuous learning within the team.
- Technical Oversight: Working as part of a team to ensure that our cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, and efficient. Serve as a reliable resource for best practices in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and orchestration, collaborating closely with other engineers.
- Proactive Monitoring: Utilize monitoring tools like Datadog, Newrelic, and CloudWatch to proactively identify infrastructure needs, orchestrate responses and provide data‑driven insights into our applications.
- Enhance and Deploy: Oversee upgrades and deployments, making strategic decisions to ensure a flawless user experience while minimizing risk.
- Collaborate and Troubleshoot: Work in cross‑functional teams in troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure and application issues.
- Automate and Document: Author comprehensive design, deployment, and troubleshooting documentation, focusing on automation and efficiency.
- Stay Engaged: Help play a key role in technological decisions and stay ahead of industry trends through attending vendor‑led workshops, webinars and training.
- On‑Call Duties: Participate in an on‑call rota to ensure seamless 24/7 operational support.
Who we are looking for
- AWS Expertise: You will have extensive hands‑on AWS experience and an in‑depth understanding of best practices. All candidates must either be certified as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or display a willingness to achieve this certification during their probation period. Full training will be provided.
- IaC Mastery with Terraform: Proven, hands‑on experience in writing and managing Infrastructure as Code is essential, with strong proficiency in Terraform being a key requirement for this role.
- Containerization Expertise: Deep, practical experience with containerization and orchestration is a must. You will be proficient in systems like Kubernetes, Docker, ECS, and EKS, as these are central to our platform's architecture.
- Database Familiarity: While not expected to possess DBA‑level expertise, you should have experience in monitoring and managing the infrastructure metrics of relational and non‑relational databases (e.g., MySQL and MongoDB). You'll work closely with developers to identify problematic queries or database issues and should be comfortable tweaking database parameters for performance optimization. Familiarity with database backup strategies, disaster recovery, and managing access controls.
- Building Relationships: You will have strong teamwork skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively and thoughtfully with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and expertise.
- Automation Focus: You will have Expertise in scripting and configuration management systems such as Ansible.
- IaC Mastery: You will have proven experience in writing and managing Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Security Savvy: You will have a deep understanding of cloud security concepts, including identity & access management.
- Communications: Your ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, will be essential as you work across teams.
- Adaptability: You will be highly flexible and able to manage multiple priorities while driving for results.
- Problem‑Solving: The successful candidate will possess excellent problem‑solving and critical thinking skills which are crucial for diagnosing and resolving complex cloud infrastructure issues.
While not required, it would be advantageous to have experience with the following
- Serverless Technologies: Expertise in serverless technologies, including Lambda, API Gateway, Amplify, and AWS SAM.
- Agile Framework: Deep understanding and experience with Agile methodologies.
- Cost Management: Proficiency in managing cloud‑related costs. Having experience with tools and best practices for cost monitoring, reporting, and optimization within a cloud environment and using tools such as AWS Cost Explorer.
