Job summary

Made Tech is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, implement and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure for public sector clients across UK offices.

You will deploy resources using IaC, enforce security standards, and drive automated deployment pipelines while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and guiding junior colleagues.

The role demands broad cloud knowledge, certifications, and a proactive, delivery‑oriented mindset in a consultancy environment.

Qualifications

• Significant prior experience in a cloud engineering role with successful cloud deployments.
• Deep knowledge of AWS, Azure and GCP.
• Hands‑on software engineering with multiple languages and modern practices.
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Collaborative work in multidisciplinary teams; consultancy background.
• Relevant cloud certifications (AWS/Azure DevOps or Security, etc.).
• Familiarity with CAF and TCoP guidance for UK public sector.
• Knowledge of Python, Bash and JavaScript; Agile practices (Scrum, XP, Kanban).
• Experience with well‑architected frameworks; TDD is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in cross‑functional teams to design scalable, secure cloud architectures.
• Deploy and manage cloud resources and IaC tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Configure networking, security and access controls in cloud environments.
• Maintain security practices to protect data and resources.
• Develop automated provisioning, monitoring, and scaling pipelines (CI/CD).
• Monitor performance and optimize cloud resource usage.
• Implement load balancing, caching and CDNs for high availability.
• Design backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Create runbooks and standard operating procedures for operations.
• Provide high‑tier support for client applications and infra; on‑call as needed.
• Ensure compliance standards and certifications are maintained.
• Stay current with industry trends and cloud best practices.
