About The Role

We’re hiring a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join the BA Digital Observability Team (DOT). In this role, you’ll help build and maintain internal platform services that support observability, access management, and automation for engineering teams across the organisation.

You’ll be hands-on with backend engineering and infrastructure tooling, take ownership of technical implementation across key workstreams, and provide subject matter expertise to guide delivery. Working closely with the Product Owner, Delivery Manager, and fellow engineers, you’ll ensure our solutions are secure, scalable, and meet the needs of the teams we support.

What You’ll Do

• Take ownership of observability onboarding, access control, and automation workflows, contributing directly to design, implementation, and engineering quality.
• Create and manage Datadog automation using AWS, including API/app key provisioning, tagging, and monitor metadata management.
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code, primarily using Terraform.
• Enhance and support CI/CD pipelines to drive reliable, automated deployments.
• Provide standardised deployment patterns and documentation for observability agents and integrations, offering hands-on support to application teams.
• Ensure robust test coverage across infrastructure code, backend services, and automation scripts; maintain test quality as a core part of engineering delivery.
• Manage integrations between Datadog and platforms like ServiceNow, aligning telemetry with operational workflows.
• Help shape the observability enablement strategy, including evaluating and adopting new Datadog capabilities.
• Mentor team members and promote consistent, high-quality engineering practices.
  
  

Must-Have Skills

What We’re Looking For:

• Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD tooling.
• Proficient in backend scripting or programming (e.g. Python, Go, Shell).
• Hands-on experience working with Datadog APIs and observability integrations.
• Strong understanding of IAM and access controls in cloud environments, ideally AWS.
• Experience building internal full-stack applications on AWS.
• Solid understanding of telemetry collection and agent management across various stacks.
• Proven ability to lead technical implementation and advocate for engineering best practices.
• Experience writing and maintaining automated tests for infrastructure and platform code.
  
  

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience working with internal developer platforms or platform enablement teams.
• Familiarity with ITSM platforms like ServiceNow.
• Exposure to container orchestration platforms (e.g. ECS, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of DevOps security practices, including secrets management and access control.
• Experience with infrastructure testing tools (e.g. pytest, Terratest, Bats, or equivalents).
• Strong collaboration skills and comfort supporting teams across organisational boundaries.
