Job description
Job Title: Senior Radiological Protection Officer

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and scientifically skilled individual to fill a senior role within the St. George's Radiological Protection Centre (RPC). The successful applicant will work within the diagnostic radiology service, acting as an appointed Medical Physics Examiner (MPE) for a range of external customers, and ensuring compliance with the regulatory framework.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Head of Radiation Protection in delivering RPC’s service commitments.
  • Acting as the appointed MPE to sites that are the responsibility of the post holder.
  • Auditing services for compliance with legislation relating to radiation and laser safety, and advising on corrective actions.
  • Investigating radiation incidents and providing accurate incident reports to clients.
  • Contributing to the development of RPC’s scientific and technical services.
  • Participating in the department’s scientific research and development activities.
  • Providing advice on legislation and guidance in radiation protection to clients.

The RPC delivers RPA, RWA, MPE, and LPA advice and services to healthcare organisations across the UK, with dedicated premises and ample office space.
