Job title: Senior Clinical Psychologist
Location: York
Hours: 35 hours per week
Main duties
- To provide specialist psychological assessment and neuropsychological assessment of adults with acquired brain injury referred to BIRT and related services, utilising and interpreting information from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service users care.
- To complete pre-admission assessments, developing specialist, collaborative and holistic neurobehavioural formulations of an individual7s rehabilitation needs, including the development of SMART goals.
- To coordinate Service Users care as appropriate and agreed with your supervisor, in the role of keyworker/clinical lead.
- To be responsible for relevant data collection on work activities, as required.
- To formulate and implement plans of highly specialist psychological and/or neuropsychological intervention to support the neurobehavioural rehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injury as part of the multi/inter disciplinary team, based on current evidence-based best practice.
- To elicit personal goals from service users and translate this to SMART goals with the team.
- To undertake a range of psychological therapeutic and rehabilitation interventions, drawing on a range of psychological models and modalities, and ongoing evaluation of outcomes.
- To provide a specialist psychological perspective in the multi/inter disciplinary assessment of service users and their families and contribute to formulation of appropriate therapeutic approaches.
- To undertake risk assessment and risk management for relevant clients and provide advice on psychological aspects of risk to the team.
- To consult with and provide specialist psychological guidance to carers and families of service users.
- To exercise autonomous professional judgement and responsibility for the psychological management of service users on own caseload.
- To participate in regular on-call support for the Unit on a rota basis.
- To demonstrate a duty of care to equipment and resources supplied by Brainkind.
Qualifications
- Degree in Psychology accepted by BPS for Graduate Basis Registration (GBR) or equivalent.
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (BPS accredited) or equivalent to meet requirements to register as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC.
- Registered with the HCPC
- Demonstrate an interest in clinical neuropsychology.
- General knowledge of acquired brain injury pathology, neuroanatomy, symptoms, and rehabilitation approaches.
- Relevant experience in producing clinical reports.
- At least 2 years experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist in a relevant clinical area.
- Experience working within a multi-/inter disciplinary team, supporting team processing and promoting psychological thinking within formulations and goal setting.
