Job summary

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a psychologist to join the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in Preston. The post offers preceptorship for newly qualified psychologists with supervision of trainees and an emphasis on direct clinical work and staff consultation.

You will deliver specialist assessments, run formulation sessions, provide staff training, and contribute to audit and service development while supporting team wellbeing.

Qualifications

• BPS-accredited doctorate in clinical psychology or equivalent if trained before 1996
• Postgraduate diploma-level knowledge in addition to entry-level qualification
• Doctoral-level knowledge of research methodology and multivariate analysis
• Formal training in supervision of other psychologists

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy to patients in the team
• Offer advice and consultation on psychological care to colleagues and carers
• Run psychology consultation sessions with staff
• Deliver direct clinical work
• Run formulation sessions and therapeutic groups
• Chair complex case meetings
• Deliver staff training
• Support staff wellbeing and supervise colleagues when required
• Offer trainee placements for clinical psychology students
• Develop formal consultancy systems within the team
• Use research skills for audit, policy and service development
