Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant discipline is required.
  • Extensive experience in clinical pharmacology and pharmaceutical development.
  • Strong expertise in PK/PD modelling and model-informed drug development.
  • Experience supporting translational medicine and First-in-Human studies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical pharmacology strategies across early and late-phase drug development programs.
  • Apply model-informed drug development principles to support dose selection, patient population strategy, biomarkers, and endpoint optimization.
  • Partner with Pharmacometricians to develop and execute PK/PD modelling and simulation strategies.
  • Contribute to translational medicine initiatives, preclinical study design, and First-in-Human studies, including SAD and MAD dose selection.
  • Provide clinical pharmacology expertise to cross-functional teams, governance discussions, and key development decision points.
  • Support regulatory submissions and responses to health authority queries.
  • Drive collaboration across preclinical, clinical, regulatory, and quantitative sciences teams to advance development programs.
  • Stay current with emerging innovations in clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, biopharmaceutics, and quantitative drug development.

We are currently seeking a Senior Clinical Pharmacologist (Director, Clinical Pharmacology) to join our growing client-dedicated team at ICON.

This is a unique opportunity to become an embedded strategic partner within a leading global pharmaceutical organization, influencing development programs from early research through registration.

As a Senior Clinical Pharmacologist, you will join a highly collaborative client-dedicated team, partnering with scientific and clinical leaders to support clinical pharmacology strategy across programs from early development through registration. You will apply your expertise in clinical pharmacology, biopharmaceutics, and model-informed drug development to drive informed decision-making and accelerate the development of innovative therapies.

What You Will Do
  • Lead clinical pharmacology strategies across early and late-phase drug development programs.

  • Apply model-informed drug development principles to support dose selection, patient population strategy, biomarkers, and endpoint optimization.

  • Partner with Pharmacometricians to develop and execute PK/PD modeling and simulation strategies.

  • Provide clinical pharmacology expertise to cross-functional teams, governance discussions, and key development decision points.

  • Drive collaboration across preclinical, clinical, regulatory, and quantitative sciences teams to advance development programs.

  • Stay current with emerging innovations in clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, biopharmaceutics, and quantitative drug development.

You Will Have:
  • PhD in Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.

  • Extensive experience within clinical pharmacology, pharmaceutical development, or a related industry setting.

  • Strong hands-on expertise in clinical pharmacology strategy, study design, PK/PD modelling, and quantitative data interpretation.

  • Deep understanding of model-informed drug development and its application across the drug development lifecycle.

  • Experience supporting translational medicine strategies and early clinical development programs, including FIH studies.

  • Strong knowledge of innovative approaches in clinical pharmacokinetics, biopharmaceutics, and PK/PD modelling.

  • Comprehensive understanding of global drug development and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build alignment across scientific and business functions.

  • Proven ability to lead complex scientific discussions and contribute to strategic development decisions.
