Location: Base Site Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich (for purposes of weekend working and on-call duty)

Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for the position of Senior Clinical Pharmacist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich. This permanent role, at Band 7 level, comes with an Emergency Duty Commitment (EDC) and offers a competitive salary ranging from £43,742.00 to £50,056.00 per year. Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Practice:
    • Provide and develop clinical pharmacy services to the named directorate, ensuring safe, clinically effective, and cost-effective prescribing and use of medicines.
    • Ensure the quality of patient care, including participation in clinical and departmental audits to measure adherence to local and national guidelines.
    • Deputise for the Lead Pharmacist(s) in their absence.
    • Support ward-based technicians in improving medicines management within the directorate.
    • Participate in relevant ward rounds, making proactive interventions on drug-related issues.
    • Adhere to legal, ethical, professional, and employer’s codes of conduct.
  2. Education and Training:
    • Act as a tutor and educational facilitator for the Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.
    • Provide support for junior and Trainee Pharmacists during their rotations, offering information, informal teaching, and assessing competencies in General Pharmacy Practice.
    • Deliver teaching and training sessions on pharmacy-related issues to pharmacy, ward, and clinical staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Pharmacist with relevant experience.
  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, demonstrating leadership and clinical expertise.
  • Familiarity with Emergency Duty Commitment (EDC) is advantageous.
