Senior Clinical Pharmacist – HSCT and ATMP

An exciting opportunity has presented for a pharmacist with clinical cancer experience including haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) to join our cancer pharmacy team. This post is a permanent position within the HSCT team to work closely with the Lead Clinical Pharmacist to manage the growing service.

As a world-leading research facility and Europe’s largest HSCT centre, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver cellular therapies such as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell treatment, which is licensed or in clinical trials.

As a registered pharmacist, you will provide a person-centred approach to care, and manage specialist pharmacy services to patients undergoing HSCT or cellular advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) for cancer or non-malignant indications. You will collaborate with the Lead Clinical Pharmacist to improve the pharmacy service for these patients and educate pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff on these innovative treatments.

The UCLH Cancer Pharmacy Team is a large team across oncology, haematology and transplantation and works well together. Our ideal candidate will:

• help us develop and deliver our vision for a person-centred clinical pharmacy service
• drive directorate and departmental clinical governance issues, clinical audit, practice research, service improvement projects and more
• be keen to further their career within cancer services

Main duties of the job

• The main day to day responsibilities would include:
• To provide highly specialised and complex evidence-based clinical advice and information to the multidisciplinary team on the care and treatment of HSCT and ATMP patients
• To deliver and promote high quality, cost effective, patient focused pharmaceutical care
• To manage the day-to-day delivery of clinical pharmacy services to HSCT and ATMP patients
• To manage cancer pharmacists delivering clinical pharmacy services to HSCT and ATMP patients
• To support the training and development cancer pharmacists in the field of HSCT and ATMPs
• To support the opening and management of HSCT and ATMP clinical trials

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

• Master degree in Pharmacy, or equivalent.
• Pharmacist Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience and expertise.
• Evidence of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
• Independent prescriber, or willingness to undertake an independent prescribing qualification.
• Advanced practitioner as defined by the Faculty of Cancer Pharmacy Advanced and Consultant Level Framework (ACLF).
• Evidence of formal management training.

Experience

• Minimum five years post-registration.
• Minimum of three years\' experience as a clinical pharmacist in a cancer specialty including haematology.
• Experience as a clinical pharmacist in managing haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) patients.
• Experience of verifying prescriptions for systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and HSCT.
• Actively seeks to improve the ward and clinical services provided to enhance quality of care to cancer patients.
• Experience as a clinical pharmacist in chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell patients.
• Experience in reviewing and setting up cancer clinical trials including validation of electronic protocols.
• Experience of managing change and driving service improvements.
• Evidence of evaluating own and pharmacy staff\'s work to drive and deliver service improvements.
• Participation in multidisciplinary health services research.
• Evidence of publishing in a peer reviewed journal.
