Senior Clinical Pharmacist - Endocrine and Cardiology Services, NHS Fife

NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate is seeking an outstanding individual to lead the clinical pharmacy team supporting Endocrine and Cardiology services. This role involves direct patient care, clinical leadership, and management excellence. The post is integral to the delivery of the Directorate's two-year pharmacy strategy.

We seek an innovative and ambitious leader to develop and enhance our pharmacy services in these specialties. Recent initiatives include establishing a pharmacist-led clinic, making this role pivotal within clinical MDTs, Managed Clinical Network, and the Fife Diabetes Safety group.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead an established team of junior and specialist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
  2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe, effective, and optimal use of medicines.
  3. Communicate complex medication information to clinicians, nurses, prescribers, carers, and patients.
  4. Implement and monitor clinical pathways for treatments, aligning with national guidelines.
  5. Manage patients with various conditions, ideally as an independent prescriber, participating in ward rounds and clinics.
  6. Contribute to clinical governance, education, medicine efficiencies, risk management, and audit activities.
Candidate Profile
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, compassionate, with a proven track record in service development.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently or within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to foster professional relationships.
  • Experience in a clinical environment and staff management.
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification is desirable.
