Job Summary

Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist - Learning Disabilities

JOB SUMMARY

  • Provide leadership, management support, and supervision for Community Learning Disability Nurses.
  • Ensure an effective and quality Community Nursing Service as part of the Community Learning Disability team.
  • Lead the development and modernization of Community Learning Disability Nursing.
  • Support service delivery to meet capacity, demand, and access targets within commissioned and national standards.
  • Assist in developing team functions related to Transforming Care, Behaviour Support, and Quality Assurance.
  • Interpret and communicate complex information to team members and external parties.

Main Duties
Management Responsibilities

Lead the Community Nurses within an interdisciplinary team, adhering to service policies and procedures.

  • Accountable for Service Level Agreement targets to positively impact budget performance.
  • Designated person in charge of the team, including budget management of devolved budgets.
  • Ensure regular clinical supervision and appraisals for all Community Nurses, in partnership with the Operational Clinical Lead.
  • Manage caseloads effectively, including referral processing and monitoring.
  • Develop and review work plans through supervision to meet service needs.
  • Foster effective team working within the Community Learning Disability Team.
  • Support deployment of staff to meet service demands.
  • Respond to and manage complaints according to Trust and Council policies.
  • Promote interdisciplinary and interagency collaboration with voluntary and statutory organizations.

Person Specification
Essential
  • RNLD/RNMH with current UK NMC registration; post-qualification training/experience; degree or equivalent; Masters preferred.
  • Knowledge of legislative and policy frameworks affecting the relevant service user groups.
  • Experience supervising Nurses at Band 6/7 and below, including appraisals and personal development planning.
  • Leadership and service development experience.
  • Ability to manage activity targets and analyze data.
Desirable
