An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 7) for our ARC-MK (Addiction Recovery Community Milton Keynes) service, working within the Criminal Justice team.

Main duties of the job

The role aims to provide specialist addiction nursing support to facilitate timely assessment, engagement, and intervention for patients within the criminal justice system with substance use needs. It supports integration into the community, prevents reoffending, and facilitates engagement with the local community substance misuse team 'ARC-MK'.

The role involves working with services such as the police, probation, courts, and legal services. Successful candidates will need excellent communication skills and flexibility to work with these groups.

Candidates must work effectively as part of a team and have the skills and confidence to work independently in various environments. Supervision and consultation are available to support practice. Applicants will need to submit an application for Police vetting clearance, which must be approved before a contract can be finalized.

Job responsibilities

You will support the day-to-day operational management of the team alongside senior management.

We seek an experienced registered nurse with knowledge of mental health/substance misuse disorders and the criminal justice system, with demonstrable experience in specialist assessment and decision-making. This role offers an exciting opportunity for those looking to manage community addiction services.

Person Specification

Experience

• Teaching and Assessing qualification ENB 998 / SLICE or equivalent (e.g., mentorship)
• Experience in undertaking Risk Assessments and Risk Management
• Extensive clinical experience
• Competence in the supply and administration of CNWL Trust Hepatitis Patient Group Directions
• Experience in administering Hepatitis vaccines
• Supervising junior staff
• Experience in Mental or General Health
• Willingness to undertake Teaching and Assessing qualification within six months of starting
• Experience working with injecting drug users
• Community Nursing Experience

Qualifications

• RMN / RN
• Evidence of ongoing personal development and post-registration training
• Knowledge of current clinical practices within substance misuse services
• Understanding of the criminal justice system
• Completed the 'Non-Medical Prescriber' course
• Completed Motivational Interviewing Training
• Training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
