Job summary

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) seeks a senior legal professional to lead and oversee complex clinical negligence caseloads against GPs for Welsh health boards. The role supports the GMPI and Existing Liabilities Scheme, with an emphasis on training and supervising junior colleagues and enabling largely autonomous work with flexibility for home working.

Qualifications

Qualified solicitor with rights of audience in England and Wales, or CILEx Litigator/Advocate, or barrister admitted to the bar
Substantial post-qualification litigation experience
Experience drafting documents and presenting to non-legal staff
Ability to train, supervise and develop junior team members
Proven ability to build relationships with clients and manage complex caseloads

Responsibilities

Manage a complex caseload of clinical negligence litigation involving GPs and health bodies in Wales
Assist the team manager with running the GMPI and ELS schemes
Advise GPs on management of claims and related concerns
Monitor claims data and contribute to strategic risk and change initiatives
Train and supervise junior staff and mentor colleagues
Develop client relationships and contribute to departmental reputation
