The post-holder will provide nursing leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers others. The post-holder will promote the highest standards of professionalism amongst nurses and undertake clinical work to maintain their clinical competence, authority and credibility.

They will provide a highly visible and authoritative presence, responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality care.

Main duties of the job

They will be responsible for co-ordinating care, monitoring expenditure, monitoring the quality of clinical support and environmental services and staff. They will also be accountable for the development and performance management of all nursing staff to enable delivery of the Trust's Nursing and Midwifery Strategy. They will ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.

Contribute to the corporate nursing agenda and to participate in Senior Nursing rota's as appropriate.

Job responsibilities

  1. To provide professional leadership and direction for all nursing staff working within Responsive Care.
  2. To be visible in the department and act as a resource for staff, patients and carers.
  3. To manage allocated resources efficiently and effectively.
  4. To actively encourage and develop a multidisciplinary approach throughout the Care Group and specifically within allocated services and teams.
  5. Provide leadership and vision to teams within the care group, challenging service delivery methods and developing innovative methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  6. To represent the interests and concerns of allocated services at all levels.
  7. To maintain a good learning environment and ensure the development of nurses working within the pathway.
